Rev. Dr. Gregory E. Dawson

The Seymour Congregational Church is happy to announce the arrival of our new pastor Reverend Dr. Gregory E. Dawson.
He holds a BA in Studio Art from the University of Vermont, a Masters of Divinity from the Nazarene Theological seminary, and a Doctorate of Practical Ministry from the Master’s Graduate School of Divinity. He has over eighteen years in ministry including such works as: military Chaplaincy (Army), hospital Chaplaincy, hospice Chaplaincy, a pastorate in Houlton Maine (Nazarene), Millville, PA (Disciples of Christ), and most recently from New Hartford, CT, where for the last six years he served as pastor of the North Congregational Church UCC.
He was ordained through the Church of the Nazarene in 1991 and was accepted as a minister in full standing in the UCC in 2000. He is a writer and has created poetry and non-fiction. He wrote "The History of North Congregational Church, 1828-2003," and is now working on a fiction, a murder mystery which will be titled For All Have Sinned.
His has served both in the US Navy (Enlisted) and the Army National Guard and Reserves (Enlisted, then as an officer). He was mobilized during the first Gulf War and served as an Army chaplain at Fort Drum, New York. He enjoys painting, poetry, puppets, woodworking and writing. His wife Rosemary is also an ordained minister and presently serves as the interim minister at United Congregational Church in Torrington. Together they own a home in Torrington and enjoy hiking
